Students who wish to enroll for EAP will have as their specific study objective to join a college or university for further study. The focus of an EAP course to develop the skills areas in English which will be required to study alongside native speakers in mainstream course areas.

English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP1)

This program:


• has completion dates that coincide with the intake for EAP2;
• does not assume prior exposure to academic skills; and
• is designed to prepare students for higher level English study and for successful tertiary level competence.

Students who wish to enroll for EAP will have as their specific study objective to join a college or university for further study. The focus of an EAP course to develop the skills areas in English which will be required to study alongside native speakers in mainstream course areas.

English for Academic Purposes 2 (EAP2)

This program:


• runs to coincide with the commencement of Foundation Studies and Diploma program terms;
• includes intensive practice of reading, writing, listening and speaking tasks required of university students;
• includes research, information literacy and computer skills necessary for producing academic assessments; and
• students who meet all requirements of this 10 week program are able to gain direct entry to University Foundation

English for Academic Purposes –Direct Entry (EAP DE)

This program:

• runs to coincide with the commencement of university terms; and
• is designed to familiarise students with academic life and enable them to have hands-on practice with a variety of academic activities undertaken by university students.

English Language's IELTS Preparation course focuses directly on the skills students need to be successful in the IELTS examination.

Course Structure

To gain the best possible result in the IELTS examination, students develop the four key skill areas in English: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Experienced teachers will also help students build confidence in dealing with the examination.

The IELTS Preparation course is designed for students aiming for an IELTS score of 5.5 and above. An intermediate level of English is required for entry.

Cambridge courses are excellent if you need a formal English language qualification. It is recognised by employers, colleges and universities (especially in Europe and South America). The classes prepare you for the examinations which are conducted by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

The Cambridge PET course is an introduction to the Cambridge examinations for those students not quite ready for the First Certificate. It prepares students for the international examination which is held three times a year. You will receive a solid foundation in intermediate-level grammar and learn to develop your skills in the four macro skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

The Cambridge FCE course is our most popular Cambridge course. It prepares students for the international examination. You will receive a solid foundation in grammar and learn to develop your skills in the four macro skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The test is broken down into five components:

    Speaking
    Reading
    Writing
    Use of English

The Cambridge CAE is an intensive course for students who can speak and write English fluently and confidently and who want to further develop their skills. The exam consists of five papers – reading, writing, listening, speaking and use of English – and is an internationally recognised qualification. This is an excellent course for students who already possess a high ability in English and want the challenge of honing their skills.

English for Teaching Children

The ATTC English for Teaching Children course provides a highly practical introduction to the methodology and language skills for teaching English to young learners.

Regular teaching practice is a key component of the program and students will take an active role in lesson observations and peer feedback sessions.

English for Teaching Teenagers

This program is an essential introduction to the skills and language needed to teach English to teenagers effectively. The highly practical curriculum develops teachers’ own language skills and engages them in teaching practice, lesson planning, daily supervised study assignments and assessment tasks.

TESOL

The ATTC English for TESOL course is for non-native speakers of English who are interested in
becoming English language teachers in their own country. The program consists of two intensive
five-week modules which can be taken together or separately -TESOL language module and
TESOL skills module.

Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT)

TKT is the latest test from the University of Cambridge ESOL which offers internationally recognised qualifications for English language teachers.The ATTC TESOL course provides excellent preparation for TKT which can be taken at all ATTC campuses on completion of the TESOL course.

English for Nursing assessment tasks prepare students for the assessment requirements of their future course of study as well as the profession. Tasks include journal writing, oral presentations, summarising and note-taking, communication skills, essay writing, research projects and tests.
