This course is for people who want to work as an enrolled nurse. You will be required to undertake clinical work placement in a variety of approved clinical facilities. You will learn about legal and ethical issues in health care, effective communication strategies, anatomy and physiology and development through the lifespan. A range of medical and health problems and related nursing care in a variety of contexts such as medical/surgical nursing, paediatrics or aged care as well as the administration of medication is also delivered within the course.

 

Work placement:


Workplace learning ('on-the-job' training) of a minimum of 690 hours is required for the achievement of competencies to receive the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing).

As clinical work placement in a public, private hospital or other clinical facility is a compulsory part of this course, you will need to undergo occupational screening and be vaccinated against infectious diseases.

 

On successful completion of the course the learner will be eligible to apply for enrolment as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Additional registration requirements apply.

Academic Requirements: Higher School Certificate or overseas equivalent

 

Language Requirements: For Nursing awards an overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 - 7.0 with no sub-band score less than 6.0 (or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 91 in the Internet-Based Test with no less than 22 in the written component and 20 in Listening, Speaking and Reading).

On completing a Bachelor of Nursing and acquiring registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you can work as a registered nurse (RN) anywhere in Australia.  Salaries for Registered Nurses range from $45 500 to $75 000 (AUD) and given the critical shortage here and throughout the world, employment prospects are ample.  Once qualified, Registered Nurses can choose from a number of nursing roles in the healthcare profession, including positions in public and private hospitals, general health services, mental health, community health, residential care, indigenous health, remote and rural health, and many other areas.
